Sean Conkling is a recording wizard, musician and owner of Burning Blade Studio in Phoenix, Arizona.  He’s also a digital music instructor at my former alma mater, The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS) in Tempe. Here we go!!!!

How have you integrated Gobbler into your workflow?

I’ve been working with a lot of artists, who compose in there own environment and they come to the studio to mix. By using Gobbler I can receive the multitrack’s and do pre-production before the artist arrives at the studio.

When composing I use Gobbler to upload current sessions to the Gobbler cloud that I am working on as a backup to my local backup.

Tell us a little about your background in the music business/audio….

Started playing music @ 11 years old, recording it on a 4 track cassette recorder @ 12, playing in bands @ 15, and touring from 19 to 26 non stop as a musician.. In between tour’s I would intern at studio’s, if work was not required.  Went to Recording School in 2001, to gain more knowledge, finished that was trained by Engineers Jeff Harris, and Steve Austin ( not the wrestler or the 6 million dollar man ). Went back on tour from age 29 to 34 doing FOH sound for touring bands. Opened ” Burning Blade Studio ” in 2005 in Phoenix. And the rest is history.

What is your favorite record at the moment?

The Ocean – Precambrian ( Proterozoic ) – Considered to be one the most important bands in Metal currently.

If you were on a desert island and could take just a few pieces of gear, what would they be?

1. Pair of API 553′s and Lunch Box.
2. RCA 44 Ribbon.
3. Neve 1073 Mic Pre / EQ.
4. Phonograph Cylinder invented by Thomas Edison

Preferred DAW?

Pro Tools HD – for recording and mixing.

Logic Pro – for song writing.

Give us a situation where Gobbler has saved the day and/or a time when you could have really used a software like Gobbler?

A few years back,( 2006 )  I was working with a band from Japan, they would record on Friday night’s in Tokyo, and then take all weekend to upload the multitracks to the FTP server @ the studio.  Had Gobbler existed the transfer would have been much faster, smoother and convenient.
